A Tempting Singaporean Nasi Lemak

Saturday, August 31, 2013
I got a chance to visit Singapore for the 4th time with my mother and my sister. Since Indonesia is really close to Singapore, so we often visit Singapore whenever there's a cheap ticket promo. Singapore is a well-organized country compared to countries around it. It's a small country but you can do many things while exploring the city. Universal Studio has been opened and Sentosa Island is being the highlight of this country. Another highlight that you can't miss from Singapore is its FOODS !!

During my previous stays in Singapore, I rarely ate Nasi Lemak, because it's all the same with Indonesian cuisine, so I chose Chinese foods or Western foods instead. But that time, we started our tour by visiting Mustafa Center where you can buy souvenirs, chocolates, etc. It's a really famous place since many Halal Restaurants gather here ( even there's a mosque too ! ). In fact, for me, the foods are bit pricey, so we decided to sit in Mustafa Cafe, Mustafa Cafe is located next to Mustafa Center. Many workers gather here to chit chat and have lunch.

There are some menus available. It's not only Singaporean foods, but also western foods. Since we were so hungry, we wanted to eat rice. Nasi Lemak is a really good choice, of course. It cost us S$ 4.50 ( or US$ 3.53 or IDR 38.547,60 ) per portion. It was packed in a sterofoam food packaging. Plastic spoons and forks are available for free next to the counter. When we opened the cover of the packaging, wala, it surprised us a lot! It's gonna be a really great lunch for us since we were starving.

The food package is full of savoury rice with 3 pieces of chicken leg, half-cut boiled egg, and slices of cucumber. It's also sprinkled by peanuts and fried onion. Don't forget about the shrimp paste sambal ( chili sauce ) too. The portion is so fulfilling since we have so many protein and carbohydrate sources in a package. The fried chickens are the highlight of this food. It's served hot, crunchy, and full of spices. The rice is a bit mushy, but it's still okay. You get everything here! You better hop on and try this food by yourself. You won't be disappointed at all ^^
