Hey FROSTERS,
It's been a long time no new posts are published here. I am so sorry, I always waste my time by working then doing nothing which make me forget to write hahaha. And also, another excuse, I got a scholarship to study Korean language in South Korea for 4 months. So that added my business. But don't worry, since I'm a foodventurer ( Food Adventurer ), I took some pictures of foods that I had eaten and I will review it here. Please do sort my Korean Food adventure by clicking on ' Korea Foodventure ' tag.
Let's just begin!
So, Koreans are really crazy about chicken dishes. Actually chicken is the most expensive ingredient among other ingredients which are sold in Korea. The chicken price is the same as the beef price. The cheapest is pork, tofu, seafood and vegetables. Since I can't eat pork and have no money to buy beef, so chicken is one of the protein sources that i often eat.
1. Buldalk ( 불닭 )
Buldalk is the first Korean chicken dish that my roommate introduced to me. My roommate asked me what kind of food I like to eat. Again, I explained to her that I can't eat pork, so I chose to eat chicken. Also I told her that I like spicy foods. So she introduced and treated me 'buldalk'. I asked her what ingredients there are in buldalk. So it consists of many pieces of chicken, mushroom, tteok ( Korean rice cake ), vegetables then the special hot hot sauce ! Yummy !!
'Bul' in Korean means fire. So if you eat this dish, your tongue will definitely burn, but I bet you will never stop eating !
The price is around 15.000 won. One portion can be enjoyed by 2-4 people. Usually Koreans will eat the chicken without rice. But if you still have the sauce left, you can add rice on the top of the sauce and mix it. But if you get used to eat chicken with rice, you can do it too. This buldalk was bought from Budeudalk Chicken Restaurant ( 부드닭 식당 ), Nonsan-si, Chungnam-do, South Korea. Once I go back to Korea, I will eat this more!
BULDALK ( 불닭 )
Budeudalk Chicken Restaurant ( 부드닭 치킨 식당 )
Nonsan-si, Chungnam-do
South Korea
Price : Around 15.000 won
One portion is for : 2 - 4 people
Score : 5 out 5 (RECOMMENDED FOR SPICY FOOD LOVERS)
2. CHEESE DALKGALBI ( 치즈 닭갈비 )
One of the most delicious yet so expensive Korean chicken dishes. My friend's roommate invited us to enjoy this food. It has a huge portion. But since we always eat like a pig, 4 of us can eat this all ! Here, let me show you how delicious the dalkgalbi is !
So cheese dalkgalbi is cooked in front of us. The restaurant staff put 200 gr boneless chicken and also vegetables together. After that the staff poured spicy sauce into the pan. If you like spicy foods, you can ask the staff to make the dalkgalbi spicier. After it all cooked, the staff poured a full bowl of shredded mozarella cheese ! Done !
Besides cheese, you also can add noodles and mushroom inside with the extra charge. You can eat it in Korean way. First, take a slice of lettuce then put the chicken and vegetable on the top of the lettuce. Second, if you want to make it spicier, put a slice of chili or kimchi. Third, wrap it and enjoy!
We got a stack of lettuce and we finished it in a short time. Hahahahahaha but I can't eat it that often since it's a bit pricey. For a portion of dalkgalbi, you should pay 34.000 won . But it's all satisfying. Whenever you go to Korea, don't miss the chance to enjoy dalkgalbi with your family or friends.
CHEESE DALKGALBI ( 치즈 닭갈비 )
Nonsan-si, Chungnam-do
South Korea
Price : 34.000 won
A portion can be for : 4 -6 people
Score : 4 out of 5

Another New Innovation of Korean Food Is Served on Korean Buffet
Sunday, August 28, 2011 Labels: Korean FoodRing ….. ring … ring …
The phone rang. I picked it up. Oh that’s my cousin, I called her as Uni Santy ( Uni means sister ).
Uni Santy : ” Ka, do you have any appointment to attend for today ? “
Me : ” Nope. Anyway, what’s the matter ? “
Uni Santy : ” You know that before I have invited you to go to Lippo Karawaci Mall for having Korean food right ? So if you don’t have any appointment to go, let’s having Korean food there for late lunch. How is it ? “
Me : ” That’s absolutely ! I’m in! Yeah, let’s go ! “.
So that’s a short story when I was invited to have Korean Buffet. Hahahaha. Finally me and my sister went to Uni Santy’s house then we went together to Lippo Karawaci Mall, Tangerang, Indonesia also with Uni Santy’s children and husband.
After we arrived at Lippo Karawaci Mall, we got a seat in the restaurant which was packed with people. Then we go to the buffet. Anyway, it’s not like the ordinary buffet. So many foods are revealed there but we have to ask for the waiter and waitress to get for us some.
We can choose one from 2 kind of packages. Package A consisted of 4 side dishes and rice, and Package B consisted of 6 side dishes and rice. So you can any kind of side dishes that you want, whether it’s vegetable, twaegim ( fried dish ), bulgogi, etc. There is also kimchi. But since I’m not a big fan of Kimchi, I don’t choose it for my side dish. Better to get another one! hahaha
I chose Package A with 4 side dishes. I don’t think that I can done the 6 side dishes. This is the pictures of my package.
I chose 2 kinds of twaegim stuff and bulgogi also tofu and vegetable sapo.
How is it ? Are you starving now ? Hahaha. Honestly I love all of the foods. They served in enough portion and your tummy will be filled properly.
The Bulgogi is lovable. The sauce is great. The beef is smooth and I can chew it easily.
The Vegetable and Tofu Sapo is good too. I am a big fan of tofu and I never decline for food that contain tofu or made of tofu. Moreover, the Japanese tofu is the best. Here, all of the ingredients were blend. 마싰어요 ! :9
The Vegetable Dumpling is totally rock! I love the crispiness and the filling tasted awesome. How can I say this ? Oh I’m speechless, I think I want more of this vegetable dumpling!
The Fried Odaeng or Fried Fish Cake is so chewy and so fishy! Fried it well with bread crumbs and it added more taste on it. Crunch, crunch, chewy, chewy, FABULOUS!
After this, I just felt bloated! Oh God, thank you for giving me a chance to enjoy those craving foods! I’ll come back later I think

When I ordered some Korean dishes, like Bulgogi rice or Bibimbab, it always served along with Seaweed Soup. It’s a clear soup with simple spices and seaweed.
My native Korean language teachers told me that if you celebrate your birthday in Korea, so you have to make Seaweed Soup. It’s for a sign may you have a long age.
Actually, how to make this Korean Seaweed Soup ? I got the traditional recipe of Korean seaweed soup. Check this out :
Ingredients:
1 package of dried seaweed (1 ounce is fine for four servings), available in all Korean food markets – ask for the kind used to make seaweed soup, or mi-yuk gook (you don’t want the thin kind used to make sushi rolls.)
6 cups of vegetable broth or organic chicken broth
2 teaspoons of sesame oil
Naturally brewed soy sauce or sea salt, to taste
1 teaspoon of minced garlic (optional)
Directions:
Soak seaweed in water for two hours or until soft. Drain and rinse really well, as dried seaweed can come with a lot of dirt, just like spinach does.
Put all ingredients, including seaweed, into a large pot and bring to a boil, then simmer for five minutes to allow all the flavours to come together.
Koreans traditionally enjoy this seaweed soup with a bowl of white or brown rice, sometimes together in the same bowl.
Hope you like it, Frosters!

It’s something that make me surprise when I visited my faculty at University of Indonesia for the first time. Yeah, there’s Korean restaurant!
They just name their restaurant as RESTORAN KOREA. That’s it. They have a lot of menus that is offered. They have kimbab, twaegim kimbab, bulgogi rice, bibimbab, sundubu, jeon, kimchi, teokpokki, rapokki, teokkochi, etc.
One day, me and my sister visited this restaurant. We ordered Twaegim Kimbab ( Fried Kimbab ) and Jeon ( like a pancake, but salty ). We didn’t have a long time to wait for our order. While we waited for the food, we were enjoy by some Korean celebrity posters which are sticked on the wall and Korean popular.
Voila, our Twaegim Kimbab and Jeon were served!
The left is Jeon and the right is Twaegim Kimbab. One portion of Jeon was cut into 8 pieces and one portion of tawegim kimbab consisted of 14 – 15 pieces. They served with soyu ( salt soy sauce )
The jeon is special. Because it contains of chili, beef, squid, and vegetables. I really love this one. It’s not too thick and it’s not the thin. One portion can make my tummy full!
Twaegim Kimbab is the unique one. Actually it’s just a regular kimbab, but they coated it with egg and fried it. So the kimbab was served hot and delightful.
I have visited this place with my friends too. My friends ordered Shin Ramyeon, tteokpokki, sundubu, and bulgogi rice.
This Shin Ramyeon is just an ordinary one. Served with vegetables and egg. Not so special. But if you are noodle lover, you can taste it.
Then, tteokpokki. This tteokpokki is served with veggies and boiled egg. Honestly, I don’t really like gochujang taste. So tteokpokki is not my favorite
=
This food is sundubu. One day, I read a book that explain about Korean food. I found Sundubu. It explained me that Sundubu is a spicy seafood soup. But in this place, there’s just Tofu, veggies, and Kimchi with a hot soup. Hmmm so where’s the seafood ??
This is Bulgogi Rice. It’s served with Kimchi and Nori Soup. I love the taste of the bulgogi, but just the number of the meat are not so many. So the onion dominated it. Bulgogi is saute too with veggies and sliced chili. Great taste!
From those lovely menus, one thing is unfortunate. The price is not so reasonable with student’s pocket. The price range is from IDR 22.000 – 35.00 per food. So students can’t enjoy Korean foods oftenly.
But still you should try if you want to compare it with another Korean restaurant. Maybe it can put to your list to visit.

Mr. Park Restaurant, Grand Indonesia, Jakarta : The Most Recommended Family Korean Restaurant
Labels: Korean FoodRight now, I am living in Jakarta. Jakarta is the capital city of Indonesia. Jakarta has a lot of culinary spot. In the street stall, restaurant, even in the malls.
In one mall named Grand Indonesia, Jakarta, you can find many restaurants inside and food court. I chose to go to the food court with my family. After seeing around to some stalls there, we decided to choose Mr. Park, a Family Korean Restaurant.
Because we are consisting of 3 people, so we ordered Family Set A.
Family SET A consists of Chicken Cutlets, White Fried Rice, Salad, Seafood and Vegetables Saute , Bulgogi, dan Black Pepper Udon.
All of the foods here are served warm ( except the salad ), so it will enrich the original taste of the food. It has a big big portion. You must try the chicken cutlets with the real black pepper. So does the bulgogi and Blackpepper Udon. OK, That was HOT!
For the veggies, try the salad and seafood with veggie saute. The salad is consisting of shredded cabbage, sliced carrots, and mayonnaise. The mayonnaise is a little bit sweet, but it’s not my favorite. The seafood and veggie saute is so-so. It’s a little bit tasteless. I can’t taste the salt and another spice on it. But the seafood is fresh! I love the prawn. It’s sweet! Yumm
Black pepper Udon is one of my favorite too. The noodles is thick but smooth and chewy. The spice is adorable!
Bulgogi is great too! The meat is soft and easy to eat.
Last but not least, THE WHITE FRIED RICE. This Fried Rice didn’t use sweet soy sauce, but salt soy sauce with pepper, salt, onion, etc. Although it’s a simple one, the taste is good. The Fried rice was mixed by frozen vegetables.
That’s from my first visit to Mr. Park. Then I invited my sister and cousin to go there. Now we re-ordered Family Set A. Still the same, Family Set A is still satisfying us. Actually I want to order Bulgogi Bibimbab too. This bulgogi bibimbab consisted of rice, veggies, sliced meats which were placed in a hot stone, sliced omelet soup, and kimchi. I asked the chef to separate gochujang souce ( chili paste ) from the rice, because if we add too manygochujang , the taste is weird. So I decided to give the gochujang based on my taste.
The omelet soup was consist of sliced omelet with hot fish broth and green onion. It’s so tasty and hot. The sliced omelet is not too many, but it is enough. Because you will feel full already with the vegetables, rice, and also the meat!
Then, kimchi. Actually I’m not a big fan of kimchi. So I didn’t eat it full. I just eat it a little and taste too much garlic in the kimchi.
And how to eat it ? Okay I will guide you!
So first, put gochujang ( chili paste ) on the top of the rice and vegetables based on your taste. Then mix them up until all of the side get the spice. Because bibimbab uses a hot stone, so don’t forget to blow it because it’s still so hot. While you eat the rice, don’t forget to drink the soup. If you like kimchi, you can mix the bibimbap up along with the kimchi. Simple right ?
But overall, bulgogi bibimbab and hot omelet soup are the best one
You will never disappointed to visit Mr. Park, because you can taste a great Korean food with a reasonable price. Catch them up now

Ramyeon ( 라면 ) or Ramen or Noodles ! Who don’t like Ramyeon or Noodle ? Ramyeon is always being alternative food to fulfill our carbohydrate. There are many types of Ramyeon, which is long-thin, long-thick, long-wide, etc. Usually we add an egg into the ramyeon. But I made something different on my Ramyeon. I named my Ramyeon as DAEBAK RAMYEON ( 대박 라면 ). Daebak in Korea means GREAT. How to make it ? Follow this simple recipe!
DAEBAK RAMYEON ( 대박 라면 )
INGREDIENTS :
2. Green onion ( add by your taste )
3. Slices chili / cayenne pepper
4. Slices carrot
5. 1 egg
6. Seafood meatballs
7. Seafood ( prawn, squid, etc. )
8. Slices onion and garlic
HOW TO MAKE IT ?
1. Boil the noodle and the additional ingredients ( which is pack on the noodle package ).
2. Put slices carrot, seafood meatballs, sea food, slices chili, and green onion in the boiled noodle.
3. Cook it until it’s done and the seafood colours are changing.
4. While waiting for the noodle and the other ingredients, sauté slices onion and slices garlic until it makes a good aroma.
5. If the noodle is done, mix it with the sauté onion and garlic and the instant spice powder ( from the noodles package ).
6. For the egg, you can boil it or fried it.
7. Serve the noodle with the boil / fried egg.
It’s easy right, Froster ? Try to make it at home and just feel the taste of DAEBAK RAMYEON.
Hey, I am a Korean freak. Not only the music, drama, or the culture, I love Korean foods too. In Indonesia, many Indonesians are interesting about Korean foods. Korean restaurants or just small Korean food stall, they are available. Some of Korean ramyeon brands are available too in the supermarket or hypermarket. Let's check, what are Korean foods which become Indonesian favourites ?
1. Shin Ramyeon - Nongshim
Nongshim is popular in Indonesian. Many hypermarkets sell it. Usually there are just several flavours. I found them out in the hypermarket.

2. Kimbab
Kimbap or kimbap is a popular Korean dish made from steamed white rice (bab) and various other ingredients, rolled in gim (sheets of dried laver seaweed) and served in bite-size slices. Kimbab is often eaten during picnics or outdoor events, or as a light lunch, served with danmuji or kimchi. It is similar to the better-known Japanese makizushi.
The basic components of kimbap are rice, meat or other protein-rich ingredients, and a large variety of vegetables, pickled, roasted, or fresh. Traditionally, the rice is lightly seasoned with salt and sesame oil/perilla oil. Popular protein ingredients are fish cakes, imitation crab stick, egg, spam-like meat, or seasoned beef rib-eye. Vegetables usually include cucumbers, spinach, carrots, and danmuji (pickled radish). After the gimbap has been rolled and sliced, it is typically served with danmuji.
In Indonesia, we know Kimbab twaegim too. Twaegim means fried. So Kimbab twaegim is a regular kimbab which is fried by an egg. It's one of my favourite. When I go to the Korean restaurant at my campus, I always order Kimbab twaegim.
3. Bulgogi
If Indonesians go to Korean restaurant, they always order for this food. Bulgogi is a Korean dish that usually consists of marinated barbecued beef, although chicken or pork may also be used. But in Indonesia, it's seldom to serve bulgogi using pork. Bulgogi is made from thin slices of sirloin or other prime cuts of beef. Before cooking the meat is marinated, marinated to enhance its flavour and tenderness, with a mixture of soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, garlic and other ingredients such as scallions, or mushrooms, especially white button mushrooms or shiitake. Sometimes, cellophane noodles are added to the dish, which varies by region and specific recipe.
Bulgogi is traditionally grilled, but pan-cooking is common as well. Whole cloves of garlic, sliced onions, and chopped green peppers are often grilled or fried with the meat. This dish is sometimes served with a side of lettuce or other leafy vegetable, which is used to wrap a slice of cooked meat, often along with a dab of ssamjang, or other side dishes, and then eaten as a whole.
Bulgogi is served in barbecue restaurants in South Korea and there are bulgogi flavoured fast-food hamburgers sold at many Korean fast-food restaurants. The hamburger patty is marinated in bulgogi sauce and served with lettuce, tomato, onion, and sometimes cheese. It is similar to a teriyaki burger in flavour.
So, bulgogi is almost same like teriyaki. and Indonesians love it ^^
4. Bibimbab
Have you ever watched a Korean drama " Full House " ? If yes, you must know this food. Lee Young Jae ( Rain ) and Han Ji Eun ( Song Hye Gyo ) ate it.
Bibimbap is a popular Korean dish. The word literally means "mixed meal." Bibimbap is served as a bowl of warm white rice topped with namul (sautéed and seasoned vegetables) and gochujang (chili pepper paste). A raw or fried egg and sliced meat (usually beef) are common additions. The ingredients are stirred together thoroughly just before eating. It can be served either cold or hot.
Vegetables commonly used in bibimbap include julienned cucumber, zucchini, mu (daikon), mushrooms, doraji (bellflower root), and gim, as well as spinach, soybean sprouts, and gosari (bracken fern stems). Dubu (tofu), either plain or sautéed, or a leaf of lettuce may be added, or chicken or seafood may be substituted for beef. For visual appeal, the vegetables are often placed so that adjacent colors complement each other.
A variation of this dish, dolsot bibimbap (돌솥 비빔밥, "dolsot" meaning "stone pot"), is served in a very hot stone bowl in which a raw egg is cooked against the sides of the bowl. The bowl is so hot that anything that touches it sizzles for minutes. Before the rice is placed in the bowl, the bottom of the bowl is coated with sesame oil, making the layer of the rice touching the bowl golden brown and crispy.
5. Kimchi Bokkeumbab ( Kimchi Fried Rice )

Indonesia is famous about Nasi Goreng or Fried Rice. A various of Fried Rice is available. But, In Korea, they have Fried rice too. It's Kimchi Bokkeumbab.
Kimchi bokkeumbap is made primarily with kimchi and rice, along with other available ingredients such as diced vegetables or meats. Leftover rice and/or over-ripened kimchi as ingredients are usually preferred in preparing kimchi bokkeumbap. Over-ripened kimchi can also be used for cooking kimchi jjigae.[1] Indeed, well-fermented kimchi and chilled rice can produce a flavor of greater richness as opposed to freshly made kimchi and rice. In preliminary preparation, as surplus "kimchiso" (hangul: 김치소, kimchi filling, mostly shredded daikon, green onions and jeotgal, fermented and salted seafood) taken out from kimchi, squeezed to discard its brine. Without completing the process, the resultant dish can be mushy in texture.
Along with kimchi and rice, kimchi bokkeumbap can contain many kinds of ingredients. Pork is preferred, however, beef, chicken, bacon, ham, or spam can be used. Instead of meat, canned tuna, shrimp, or mushrooms can be used as a replacement, in the case the ingredient's name may be prefixed to the dish's name such as "beoseot kimchi bokkeumbap" (hangul: 버섯김치볶음밥, literally "mushroom kimchi bokkeumbap"). Meat ingredients are chopped into the dish together with vegetables such as onion, carrot or zucchini. However, ingredients depend on personal preference and occasion. A small amount of minced garlic and sliced green pepper can be used as seasoning. These ingredients are fried in a pan with a little vegetable or sesame oil. After the cooked dish is put on a plate or in a bowl, a fried egg is sometimes served on top. Thinly shredded gim, chopped scallions or sesame are spread over it to enhance the flavor and to garnish.
But don't worry, not all of Korean restaurant in Indonesia use pork for their kimchi bokkeumbab. So you must ask for the ingredient to the waiter.
6. Kimchi
Of course you have heard about Kimchi. Kimchi is the popular Korean food in the world. Some of Indonesian loves it too. I think the taste is like 'Asinan Bogor' ( fruit, vegetable, and peanut are mixed with a sweet sour soup. It's served cold. - a traditional food from Bogor, West Java, Indonesia ). The difference is Asinan Bogor doesn't fermentated like Kimchi.
Kimchi (김치), also spelled gimchi, kimchee, or kim chee, is a traditional fermentedKorean dish, made of vegetables with varied seasonings. I went to Lotte Mart in Jakarta, Indonesia. They serve 2 various of kimchi. Altari Kimchi ( kimchi which is made by white radish ) and Baekchu Kimchi ( kimchi which is made by cabbage ). For your information, Kimchi is in the Top 5 Healthiest Food in The World. So I suggest you to consume Kimchi.
7. Jeon ( Buchimgae )
Buchimgae is like a pancake, but salty. There is squid, meat, vegetables, chilli, or even kimchi. Okay let us say that buchimgae is a snack, but it can fulfill your stomach and you'll full of it. Hahaha. Buchimgae is also called as Korean Pizza. It's same with okonomiyaki too. No sauce for eat it. You can ask for salt soysauce to accompany you to eat buchimgae.
Seems so lovely right ? I have tried those foods and I love that! How about you ?
