Snacking Time with Shihilin XXL Chicken Katsu!

Sunday, December 11, 2011
I was still in Grand Indonesia with my office mates. After having lunch at Yoshinoya, then we went to Food Louver, a food court in Grand Indonesia. Yeah it's totally our culinary journey! Hahahaha.

My friend, Miss Aya, suggested to have a snack. She recommended Shihilin Taiwanese Street Food Stall. Yeah it was like a street food stall, but it was in the different place. We saw a lot of menu, but one menu attracted us. It was XXL Chicken Katsu. Actually it was just a regular chicken katsu but the size was big. I recorded a video about how to make XXL chicken katsu. Take a look !

So firstly, they fried the XXL Chicken Breast which had been covered with flour dough. After that they filtered the oil and pour the spice and the chili powder on to the chicken. We even can ask more spice and also the chili powder. Then they cut the chicken with the scissors so it would be small pieces. Finally, they put them into the paper bag and it was ready to eat!

We just ordered one portion, because we are full before. And I think it was so fun to have one package then we ate together.

I think you should share with your friend also. But if you are so hungry, you can order it just for yourself! Happy eating!

Girls Night Out at Yoshinoya, Grand Indonesia Shopping Town, Jakarta

Hello Frosters!

It's been a long time I'm not posting here. I am back with my newest food recommendation. It is still in Jakarta and it's still in my favorite hang out place, Grand Indonesia Shopping Town, Jakarta. Now I went with my office mates, Miss Inta and Miss Aya. It's totally girls night out!

Left to Right : Miss Inta, Miss Aya, Me

I arrived first before them. I was totally hungry because of 4 hours Korean class in Sudirman Street. I starved with fooooddd!! Finally they arrived and we went to Yoshinoya!

I ordered for Vegetables Original Beef Bowl Package. It consisted of Regular vegetables original beef bowl, 4 pieces of fried thingy, miso soup, and refillable ocha ( green tea )! See this picture below! How tempting it is ~

Okay, let me show you one by one about this package !

This is my regular vegetable beef bowl. I ordered this instead of the others because of I need to balance my food which is going into my stomach. Hahahaha. But I do love veggies! I'm sorry for fulfilling those sliced beef with sauce, because I really love chili sauce :9 When I tasted the veggies, I could taste ginger on it. Maybe they boiled or sauteed it also with ginger. But I love it. Unfortunately, as a carrot fan,  the carrot is not too sweet. So the taste is like bland. But the other veggies were fine. The meat is really tender because they sliced it thinly so we didn't put so much effort to chew it.The portion of the rice was enough and it didn't make me bloated and felt so full. You need to pour a spoon or two spoons of Miso soup and chili powder on it, so it can add more taste.

My favorite, FRIED THINGY ! :D Yoshinoya offered me to choose one portion of fried thingy. They have all about chicken and all about shrimp. I chose the chicken one. The chicken fried thingy set consisted of 2 chicken shumai and 2 chicken roll ( If I'm not mistaken >.< ) and also fresh shredded cabbage and carrot salad with mayonnaise dressing. I love the mayonnaise! Even I asked for more mayonnaise. The mayonnaise is same with Hoka-Hoka Bento which I think it's the best mayonnaise I've ever tasted. Okay back to the fried thingy. The chicken shumai were quite good. It was crunchy outside and soft inside. So did the chicken rolls ! I even could taste the real chicken on those thingy, so it was not just flour inside. I dipped them to both chili sauce, mayonnaise and then rolled it into chili powder. Different sensation that you need to try ! :D

This miso soup was served to accompany you while eating the beef bowl.I thought that miso soup taste was bland. But I was wrong. It was tasteful and rich. It was really suitable for accompanying the beef bowl. You have to eat it when it is hot. If it is not hot at all, you can't taste the deliciousness. Unfortunately, if you take away the beef bowl, you can't get miso soup because it is just served for dine in.

Refillable cold ocha was also in this package. You can fresh your throat with this ocha. Don't be scared if you need more ocha, you can refill it !

That was what I ordered at Yoshinoya. My friend, Miss Inta, ordered other things. She ordered Chicken Karaage Rice Set with additional fried thingy.

Chicken Karaage Set was served with 1 rice, 2 chicken karaage, salad, and cold ocha. I didn't taste it, but I bet it was just so-so. It was like the other fried chicken. She also ordered for additional egg roll. It was not included the package. The price was Rp 10.000,- ( US$ 1 ) per portion. It was also served with salad.

Then Miss Inta felt regret, she thought that she must order the same beef bowl with me hahahahaha.

My another friend, Miss Aya, also ordered for Regular Vegetables Beef Bowl. But not in the package. She bought ala carte one.

But overall it was great experience for having lunch in Yoshinoya. I'll be back to this outlet again, because I am now craving for more beef bowls and also the fried thingy!!!
