Favorite Korean Chicken Dishes

Hey FROSTERS,

It's been a long time no new posts are published here. I am so sorry, I always waste my time by working then doing nothing which make me forget to write hahaha. And also, another excuse, I got a scholarship to study Korean language in South Korea for 4 months. So that added my business. But don't worry, since I'm a foodventurer ( Food Adventurer ), I took some pictures of foods that I had eaten and I will review it here. Please do sort my Korean Food adventure by clicking on ' Korea Foodventure ' tag.

Let's just begin!

So, Koreans are really crazy about chicken dishes. Actually chicken is the most expensive ingredient among other ingredients which are sold in Korea. The chicken price is the same as the beef price. The cheapest is pork, tofu, seafood and vegetables. Since I can't eat pork and have no money to buy beef, so chicken is one of the protein sources that i often eat.

1. Buldalk ( 불닭 )

Buldalk is the first Korean chicken dish that my roommate introduced to me. My roommate asked me what kind of food I like to eat. Again, I explained to her that I can't eat pork, so I chose to eat chicken. Also I told her that I like spicy foods. So she introduced and treated me 'buldalk'. I asked her what ingredients there are in buldalk. So it consists of many pieces of chicken, mushroom, tteok ( Korean rice cake ), vegetables then the special hot hot sauce ! Yummy !!
'Bul' in Korean means fire. So if you eat this dish, your tongue will definitely burn, but I bet you will never stop eating !

The price is around 15.000 won. One portion can be enjoyed by 2-4 people. Usually Koreans will eat the chicken without rice. But if you still have the sauce left, you can add rice on the top of the sauce and mix it. But if you get used to eat chicken with rice, you can do it too. This buldalk was bought from Budeudalk Chicken Restaurant ( 부드닭 식당 ), Nonsan-si, Chungnam-do, South Korea. Once I go back to Korea, I will eat this more!

2. CHEESE DALKGALBI ( 치즈 닭갈비 )

One of the most delicious yet so expensive Korean chicken dishes. My friend's roommate invited us to enjoy this food. It has a huge portion. But since we always eat like a pig, 4 of us can eat this all ! Here, let me show you how delicious the dalkgalbi is !

So cheese dalkgalbi is cooked in front of us. The restaurant staff put 200 gr boneless chicken and also vegetables together. After that the staff poured spicy sauce into the pan. If you like spicy foods, you can ask the staff to make the dalkgalbi spicier. After it all cooked, the staff poured a full bowl of shredded mozarella cheese ! Done !

Besides cheese, you also can add noodles and mushroom inside with the extra charge. You can eat it in Korean way. First, take a slice of lettuce then put the chicken and vegetable on the top of the lettuce. Second, if you want to make it spicier, put a slice of chili or kimchi. Third, wrap it and enjoy!

We got a stack of lettuce and we finished it in  a short time. Hahahahahaha but I can't eat it that often since it's a bit pricey. For a portion of dalkgalbi, you should pay 34.000 won . But it's all satisfying. Whenever you go to Korea, don't miss the chance to enjoy dalkgalbi with your family or friends.
